6th Eubank Conference on Real World Markets, April 25-26, 2016

The Eubank Conference brings together thought-leaders and innovators to discuss modeling one key market.

Insecurity in the major capital markets throughout much of the second half of 2015 dampened the year’s rally that extended into July, and uncertainty regarding domestic interest rates and China’s growth prospect have increasingly pushed private funds toward alternative and emerging investments. In the 6th Annual Eubank Conference on Real World Markets, we will hear from leading experts on alternative investments and real estate. We will also take this opportunity to celebrate the career, research and accomplishments of Dr. Jim Thompson, who is retiring after forty-six years.

In the Monday session, we will hear from Houston-based and other regional corporate real estate developers. There will be a student poster session during lunch, and we will conclude with a series of speakers on alternative investments in the afternoon. Tuesday morning will feature the Dr. Thompson celebration and will conclude with a luncheon.

CoFES awards the 2016 Nancy Moore and J. Thomas Eubank Prize in Computational Statistics to: David W. Scott, Ph.D., Noah Harding Professor of Statistics, for innovation in multivariate data driven answers, exceptional leadership and service to statistics, and expert and compassionate mentoring of the next generation of statistical leaders.

The two-day conference takes place Monday and Tuesday, April 25-26, in Duncan Hall, Rice University. Talks are in McMurtry Auditorium of Duncan Hall. Breakfast, lunch and Monday banquet are in Martel Hall of Duncan Hall. The Tuesday lunch takes place in Huff House.

For a campus map, see http://www.rice.edu/maps/Rice-University-Color-Campus-Map.pdf. Duncan Hall is #25 on the map.  The usual way of getting into the university for visitor parking is to go in main entrance One at Main and Sunset.
